Sunday Music: Brothers Down

Big Cork Vineyards

music, vineyards

Brother Down’s special breed of “Americana jam” began as a way for singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jason Turner and his twin brother and lead guitarist Jamie Turner to continue writing music and performing after years of playing more “electrified”. By transforming their blues/rock background into an acoustic duo and adding rhythmic guitar breaks in a groove-based psychedelia, they threw in a little alt country on top and created a style all of their own. Percussionist Jason Darr puts the icing on the cake and the results are music to the jam band lover’s ear.

Thousands of miles and hundreds of shows later, they’ve toured coast to coast in the US, played to packed rooms across Europe, sold-out the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville as well as the Green Note in London, and continue to build a passionate and dedicated following on the strength of their live show. The new release THE WAYSIDE, debuted at #7 the EuroAmericana radio charts and hit #4 on the Roots Music Report Top 50 Contemporary Folk Album charts, and continues to impress critics. “McRae is the real deal, bringing some rare depth to the newschool Americana genre.” – New York Music Daily.
