Enjoy Our Wine.
Maryland wineries are proud of their hand-crafted products, and want to remind you to enjoy them with respect.
Savor the Experience.
A typical wine-tasting pour consists of .5 - 2 ounces of wine. Sampling several wines can quickly add up to a 5-ounce serving. When tasting wine, spitting is perfectly acceptable - most wineries will provide a vessel to hold wine that is not swallowed. Either designate a driver for your group, or pay attention to the amount of wine you consume. The limit is .08 - so don't spoil your visit with a DUI.
Respect the Law - .08 BAC = DUI
Be aware that wineries have the obligation to refuse to serve patrons that appear to be intoxicated. Driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 is against the law. You are not only responsible for your own safety, but also that of those around you.
Know Your Limit.
The following chart provides a quick reference to help you estimate your capacity. Take your time when tasting wines and enjoy your experience in Maryland wine country or at our wine festivals.
It's Your Responsibility.

- Pace yourself when tasting wine.
- Bring some bread, snacks or a picnic to the winery.
- If you try a wine you don't like - you don't need to drink it.
