Maryland Wine Week set for June 14-24, 2013
The third annual Maryland Wine Week has been scheduled for June 14-24, 2013. Maryland Wineries Association will be pairing up with restaurants and wine shops throughout the state to promote and serve local Maryland wine, as well as paying tribute to the many wine shops and restaurants that pour local already.
“Maryland Wine Week is a celebration of our great wines and the customers that love them,” said Kevin Atticks, executive director of the Maryland Wineries Association. “It’s also a great opportunity for new shops and restaurants to explore the benefits of pouring local.”
During these 11 days, wine shops and restaurants across the state will feature Maryland wine through wine tastings, wine flights, winemaker dinners, wine seminars, and other wine-specific events.
“A lot of Maryland wine shops and or restaurants have preconceptions about Maryland wine that are no longer valid,” said Dick Seibert, MWA president and owner of Knob Hall Winery in Washington County. “Great efforts have been made to improve the quality of Maryland wine, and in fact, we are now producing some of the best wine in the Mid-Atlantic, if not the east.”
Restaurants and wine shops that are interested in participating can register via www.marylandwineweek.com.
