First Annual Free State Throwdown Winners Announced

Last Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens battled the Houston Texans and ultimately, the Ravens took home the win. While that competition was going on on the field, a stiff competition was going on in the Premier Tent at the Maryland Wine Festival.

The first annual Free State Throwdown paired Maryland wine versus Texas wine in a blind taste off. Premier Tent guests tasted six wines, two whites, two rosés, and two reds. In each category was a Texas and a Maryland wine. Guests wrote down their favorite wine, and each day at 5:00pm we announced which wine won. Tasters had no idea which wines they were tasting.

The results for each day are as follows:

White – Maryland won!

Texas 23
Maryland 24

Rosé – Texas won!

Texas 32
Maryland 18

Red – Texas won!
Texas 27
Maryland 24

White – Maryland won!
Texas- 23
Maryland 24

Rosé – Texas won!
Texas – 30
Maryland -  28

Red – Texas Won!
Texas – 25
Maryland - 22

Texas may have won in the glass, but guests were pleasantly surprised to see how their favorite Maryland wines held up against world-renowned Texas wines. See below for a full listing of wines in the throw down.
