Experience the Beauty, the Magic, and the Flavor of the Frederick Wine Trail.
With the Frederick Wine Trail, you are invited to discover some of Frederick County’s best agricultural bounty: its beautiful vineyards and outstanding wines. From the cluster of four wineries in the outskirts of Mt. Airy to the edge of Montgomery County and even in downtown Frederick, you will find a wide selection of fine wines, warm hospitality and a glimpse of the ancient art of wine making.

Catoctin Breeze is a boutique vineyard and winery operation producing small lots of fine quality Maryland wines. We offer a range of varietal and blended wines, as well as a selection of honey wines, known as mead.

About the Winery
Winner of over 600 National and Internaional medals, Elk Run has been named one of the top 100 on theast by Wine East Magazine.Elk Run Vineyards is 33 years old nestled in the rolling hills of Frederick County surrounded by dairy and horse farms and fields of wheat and corn. The name “Elk Run” was chosen for a stream. The deed name to the property is the “Resurvey of Cold Friday.” It was a land grant from the King of England to Lord Baltimore. The winemaker’s home is circa 1756. Since 1983 Fred and Carol Wilson and Neill Bassford, along with associates, family and friends, have made Elk Run a shining star among American wine producers.Using new world research and technology while maintaining the traditions and values of old world practices, Elk Run’s focus is on producing high quality wine from high quality grapes. Soils of schist and shale allow for deep roots and good drainage. Seven to eight hundred foot elevations help keep the vineyard safe from frost danger. Warm days and cool nights preserve the fruity character in the wines. Using grafted Vinifera vines, close spacing and great attention to crop levels allow the wine maker to create wines of character, structure, balance and good color.

Prized estate vintages, grape, fruit, and honey wines will entice you to this spectacular setting in the Linganore Viticultural area. Outdoor music fests, weekend events, and picnics add to the fun while tasting a diverse selection of over 25 wines.

About the Winery
Renewing a European family tradition of fine wine-making, Loew Vineyards was established in 1982. The rolling hills of the Maryland countryside provide an ideal setting for growing both vinifera and French-American grapes. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a stroll through the vineyards and to sample our estate-bottled wines.
