Early bud break in the vineyard
It’s not quite the end of April and the vineyard is coming alive. Three of our varieties are already experiencing bud break, while others are still dormant. We encourage you to explore the vineyard when you come to visit, and keep in mind that with every year comes a new and completely unique vintage, largely influenced by the winter and spring that came before.

Wine, horse racing: Decanter set for a seventh ride Saturday in Md.

The seventh installment of the wine event called Decanter will take place Saturday at Laurel Park Race Course in Maryland.
Combining tastings from almost 20 Maryland wineries, food trucks and other vendors with a day of horse racing, it’s among the East Coast’s most unusual festivals.
It will run from noon to 6 p.m., with general admission tickets costing $30 and VIP tickets (making holders eligible for more premium wines) selling for $50.
Wine talk encourages Wine Stroll patrons to expand their palates
More than 30 people attended Rachel Lipman’s “The Wine Tasting Experience” presentation prior to the third annual Westminster Wine Stroll on Sunday afternoon. Lipman, who is the assistant winemaker at Loew Vineyards in Mount Airy, hoped to make attendees “more comfortable trying different wines.”
