The Maryland Department of Agriculture was recently awarded a $1 million grant through the Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Fund (CBSF) to promote healthy soil practices. This funding will allow the department to further its efforts in promoting widespread adoption of on-farm soil health practices, which increase carbon sequestration and protect water quality in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
The Maryland Wineries Association commends MDA for its dedication to healthy soil practices, and supports its ongoing efforts.
MDA also announced the appointment of The Vineyards at Dodon’s Tom Croghan, Ph.D., to the Soil Health Advisory Committee, which will provide guidance and support to MDA in implementing the Maryland Healthy Soils Program. Congrats to Tom!
