The moment the industry has been hoping against hope for, amid faltering sales and an alarming love of health and fitness among youngsters: Generation Z and Millennials are finally drinking more wine.
That’s the good news. The bad news is, this new thirst was likely stoked in part by a global pandemic that has ushered in an era of mass human death and devastation throughout the economy, including wine’s slice of it – global consumption of wine and beer are forecast to be down by 9 percent in 2020, according to IWSR – which is obscuring this small pocket of good news.
