One of the region’s oldest wineries still in operation is Linganore Winecellars, tucked away on one of the rolling hills on the outskirts of Mount Airy, Maryland.
It celebrated its 42nd birthday on March 25, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find 10 others on the East Coast that have deeper roots.
For those who are drawn to winery history, the place was founded by Jack Aellen, a manufacturing chemist who was born in Queens, New York, and wife Lucille, born in Brooklyn and raised in an Italian winemaking family.
